Me and Jake by Boo Riley

Back Cover Blurb:

Ty told his twin brother, Cameron, that he felt like something was going to happen to change their lives. Little did he know how prophetic that statement would be, or how soon it would come to pass. What seems like a series of coincidences are anything but, and what’s more amazing, Ty’s coon dog, Jake, might not be a dog at all.

My Take:

This book is well writen and the characters very vivid.  One of my favorite scenes comes when the main character has a spiritual awakening moment, just when he's about to do something terriable. Its a gentle change in the atomosphere of the story and is done well. There are scenes were the main character is abused and several protray child neglect. I personaly didn't feel it was overly graphic, but a sensitive reader might be troubled.  Although the characters are younger teens, this book would be best for mature or older readers.
